Exemption and Credit Transfer Requirements+
The following principles apply to the recognition of courses previously taken at another university or in another graduate program, and to thesis/project registration, for students enrolling in our graduate programs:
Students enrolling in thesis master's programs may be granted exemption from up to four courses.
Applicants to thesis master's and doctoral programs must take the seminar course in their newly enrolled program.
Students enrolling in non-thesis master's programs may be granted exemption from up to five courses.
Students enrolling in doctoral programs may be granted exemption from up to four courses.
Students who are unsuccessful in a thesis master's program at our University and enrol without interruption (in the semester when their enrolment is terminated) in a non-thesis master's program with the same name will receive credit for all successfully completed courses except the seminar course.
Students whose enrolment is terminated at the thesis stage of a thesis master's program at our University may take only the thesis course if they re-enrol in the same program without interruption (in the semester when their enrolment is terminated).

Applications to Transfer to a Thesis Program+
1) Students wishing to transfer to a thesis program who meet the minimum requirements (for example, the ALES score and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50) must submit a petition completed with their academic advisor to the Head of Department during the inter-program transfer period announced in the academic calendar, no later than the beginning of their third semester.
2) If approved by the Department Board, the request is forwarded to the Graduate School through EBYS. 3) Recognition of graduate courses or activities/practical work previously completed by students transferring between graduate programs is subject to a decision of the Graduate School Executive Board (EYK). 4) The EYK decides on the application to transfer to a thesis program. Accepted students are granted additional time, with the total period, including time spent in the non-thesis program, not exceeding six semesters. 5) The EYK decision is entered into EWI and the student is notified by email. Note 1: The student receives a new student number because of the program change. Note 2: A transfer between thesis and non-thesis programs is permitted only once during the course of study. Note 3: Course recognition is based on content compatibility with the destination program, rather than the number of courses.Applications to Transfer to a Non-Thesis Program+
1) Students wishing to transfer to a non-thesis program must complete a petition with their academic advisor and submit it to the Head of Department during the inter-program transfer period announced in the academic calendar, no later than the beginning of their fifth semester.
2) If approved by the Head of Department, the request is forwarded to the Graduate School through EBYS.
3) Recognition of graduate courses or activities/practical work previously completed by students transferring between graduate programs is subject to a decision of the Graduate School Executive Board (EYK).
4) The EYK decides on the application to transfer to a non-thesis program. The period granted to accepted students to complete their program requirements is determined by the number of remaining courses. Students who need to complete up to four courses and the project course are granted two additional semesters.
5) The EYK decision is entered into EWI and the student is notified by email.
Note 1: The student receives a new student number because of the program change.
Note 2: A transfer between thesis and non-thesis programs is permitted only once during the course of study.
Note 3: Course recognition is based on content compatibility with the destination program, rather than the number of courses.
Applications to Transfer to Other Programs+
1) A successful student who has completed at least one semester in another department within the University or in a graduate program at another higher education institution may request an inter-program transfer during the application period specified in the academic calendar.
2) Provided that the student applies within the application period with the required documents (for example, transcript, ALES score, cumulative GPA and language certificate), the Head of Department decides which course requirements in the admitted program will be waived, the time to be granted and credit equivalences, and completes and approves the credit transfer form (LEE G 03 Course Credit Transfer Form).
3) The credit transfer form and decision are forwarded to the Graduate School through EBYS.
4) A student approved for transfer is admitted to the program with the appropriate credit recognition by decision of the Graduate School Executive Board.
5) For a student whose transfer is approved by the Head of Department, the credit transfer form (LEE G 03 Course Credit Transfer Form) and decision are prepared and forwarded to the Graduate School through EBYS.
6) A student approved for transfer is admitted to the program with the appropriate credit recognition by decision of the Graduate School Executive Board.
